We are delighted to announce the creation of a Formation Team to support our Sodality Ordinands and Deacons.
“The body of formation personnel should witness to a truly evangelical lifestyle and total dedication to the Lord.”Pope Saint John Paul II, Pastores Dabo Vobis, 66
Fr Sam was ordained Deacon in the Diocese of St Albans in 2018, having trained at Westcott House. He is serving his title at St Peter’s, Mill End.
Mother Ade is a Priest Vicar at Rochester Cathedral and Vocations Adviser for the Rochester Diocese and BAME Vocations.
Mother Berni was ordained Deacon in 2019 and is hoping to be ordained priest soon … (lockdown allowing). She trained at St Augustine’s College and is serving her title at St Mary, Balham.
Father John-Francis is an experienced priest and Spiritual Director. He was for many years a member of the Society of Saint Francis and Novice Guardian for the Franciscans. He has written a book on priesthood Enfolded in Christ.
We are delighted that the Formation Team are to begin their work with a series of Zoom Seminars based on Fr John-Francis’s book.
Anyone who has been recommended for training for ordination may be admitted as an Aspirant of our Sodality. We have Aspirants on courses and in residential colleges. We are a community of priests and Aspirants may be admitted as full members once ordained to the priesthood.
We welcome ordinands to explore a vocation with us as a period of Aspirancy. We hope that whether you are an Aspirant for a short time or if you come to join us as a full member in due course you will find a blessing in our community and bless us with your presence. We recognise that for some people Aspirancy will be a season and that God will lead you to other communities and paths. Please feel free to try us out.
We take the pastoral care and formation of Ordinands seriously. It is a great joy that you want to explore Catholic and Contemplative streams of life within our Anglican tradition.
There are no obligations made on Aspirants. We hope that you attend online or physical meetings as you are able, but we do not wish to impose any expectations on you in what is for many already a demanding time balancing work, family, study and placements. We know that your course or college requirements have precedence.
We hope that you will use our Manual as a form of meditation and reflection on a priestly lifestyle. It is designed to be read each month, a day at a time. Pray it and reflect on it, discuss it with your Spiritual Director and see if this life is for you. Our charism is to support parish priests in joy and seriousness and with deep friendships between us. The Sodality is a place to belong, to feel at home without competitiveness. We exist for a single purpose: to grow in holiness, because the world needs holy priests.
